I was able to get to know this wonderful school in February this year. A place of encounter has been created there for children who come from the neighbouring township of Masiphumelele.
The classrooms are colourful and lovingly designed. In addition to knowledge, the children are also taught kindness, yoga, art, singing and, above all, togetherness. The school follows the Waldorf curriculum and lessons are taught in English.
The children are motivated rather than demotivated and there is a completely fear-free atmosphere, just as a school should be. Schools in Austria and Germany could take this school as an example.
We are currently collecting donations for a wall around the school. Why?
To enable the children to stay safe during school hours!
But despite all the difficult circumstances, I can say with all my heart how much I would have liked a school like this, growing up in the 70s in Vienna, which was still safe back then. Then I would have been encouraged in my talents, like the pupils in Bhongolethu, instead of having my weak points pointed out again and again.
Do you sometimes ask yourself what you can contribute to our society in a meaningful way? Maybe the spark ✨ of these wonderful children will spread to you too!
Do you have time? Would you like to share your knowledge with the kids or do you have another idea to contribute to this valuable project?
Would you like to find out more about the Bhongolethu Foundation? Or are you even on site in Cape Town to visit them and see for yourself?
I look forward to hearing from you🤗If I am in Cape Town myself, I would be delighted to introduce you to “Bhongolethu” in person!
Big hugs, Kirsten😘
